An artist's site portraying his personal experience of surviving the holocaust, religion, and the beauty of life

Zvi Hershel Haplern is a Holocaust survivor, who at the age of 10 started his escape from the Nazis. His story of the Holocaust is portrayed through his paintings. What is special about Hershel’s creations is that he paints with a vivid colorful pallet for paintings that are meant to be sad. When you view these paintings, the first impression is that they are light and happy, but once you take a closer deeper look you will notice the deep tragic story behind the colors.

After World War 2, Zvi has made his way to Israel. In Israel he started a new hard, but beautiful life with his wife Leah and their 3 children. This new life can be seen in his Paintings of National Park Ramat-Gan, Date, and Girls School in Gedera. Zvi has always had a strong love and belief in the bible, and many of his paintings depict stories from the bible and of Jewish traditions.
